Cash Advance

Borrowing cash against a credit card at high cost.

A cash advance lets you withdraw cash on a credit card, but it carries an upfront fee (often 3–5%) and interest that starts accruing immediately, with no grace period.

The APR is usually higher than the purchase rate, making even a short-term cash advance one of the most expensive ways to borrow.
