Closing Costs

The fees paid to finalize a real-estate purchase, on top of the down payment.

Closing costs are the lender, title, and administrative fees due when a home purchase closes — commonly 2–5% of the price. They're separate from, and in addition to, your down payment.

They include origination fees, title insurance, appraisal, and recording fees, and can sometimes be rolled into the loan.
