Compound Interest
Interest earned on both the original principal and previously accumulated interest.
Compound interest is interest calculated on your principal plus the interest already earned. Because each period builds on the last, balances grow on an accelerating curve rather than a straight line.
The more frequently interest compounds and the longer the horizon, the more dramatic the effect — which is why starting early matters so much for investing.
