Fixed-Rate Loan

A loan whose interest rate stays the same for the entire term.

A fixed-rate loan locks your interest rate — and therefore your principal-and-interest payment — for the life of the loan. It offers predictability, protecting you if rates rise.

Most 30- and 15-year US mortgages are fixed-rate, which is why the payment in a mortgage calculator stays level over time.
